De Auchentoshan Virgin Oak 2 is de tweede Auchentoshan die gerijpt heeft op gebrande (charred) vaten waar daarvoor geen ander distillaat op gerijpt heeft. Sinds het millennium heeft een beperkte hoeveelheid Auchentoshan's, drievoudig gedistilleerd en niet koud gefilterd (non chill filtered), gerijpt op 'Virgin' vaten van Amerikaans eiken.

Isle of Arran Distillers is een van de nog weinig overgebleven onafhankelijke distilleerderijen. In de 19e eeuw waren er zo'n vijftig distilleerderijen actief, waarvan de meeste zelfs illegale stokerijen waren.
